You may encounter the 0xC004F074 error after you have finished upgrading your system to Windows 10.
- The 0xC004F074 error will appear whenever the Key Management Service (KMS) fails to be contacted during the activation process.

It was the first operating system on which Windows activation is required. If you ignore the activation process for 30 days, the system will stop you from using Windows anymore. You can do no more than system boot, make backups (the professional backup software you need), and activate.
If you see GPT protective partition on Windows XP, here’s your way out:
Windows Vista
- If you ignore the activation message for 30 days, the system will shift to Reduced Functionality Mode (RFM).
- You’re not able to access advanced features like ReadyBoost or BitLocker (BitLocker drive encryption recovery).
- Meanwhile, you are not allowed to play any Windows games.
- What’s more, you’ll be logged out of the system automatically after one hour of use.
Window 7
- The Windows 7 activation error: Activate Windows Online Now will be kept in the system tray.

- The activation message will appear every time when you open the PC Settings screen.
- The Personalize section (including lock screen wallpaper & apps, start screen color & background, and account picture) in settings will be disabled. You’ll see the message: You need to activate Windows before you can personalize your PC.
- A full-screen activation request will occur every couple of hours.
Windows 10
Windows is not activated Windows 10 pro.
- A watermark will show up in the bottom-right corner of your screen if you didn’t finish the activation process.
- The Windows isn’t activated. Activate Windows now link will be provided for you at the bottom of the Settings app.
- You’re not allowed to change your desktop wallpaper in the Settings app. Also, you’ll see the message: You need to activate Windows before you can personalize your PC.

Решение
- Проверьте доступ к интернету. Если доступа нет, свяжитесь с вашим провайдером для получения дополнительной информации и повторите попытку активации программы после восстановления доступа к интернету.
- Проверьте настройки Сетевого экрана. Инструкции в статьях для:
- Kaspersky Security Cloud;
- Kaspersky Internet Security;
- Kaspersky Total Security.
Если на компьютере установлен сторонний сетевой экран, отключите его или добавьте разрешающее правило для процесса avp.exe.

Message activation error
Have someone else attempt to sign in using their Apple ID. If they can successfully sign in and use Messages/FaceTime, it may be your Apple ID. Someone I know had this happen and I was able to sign in using my Apple ID. After a call to Apple Support and then being elevated to a tier 2 support person, it turned out it was a problem with their Apple ID. It took the software engineers 3-4 days to fix the problem. When calling Apple, make sure you tell them it is an Apple ID problem so you don’t get charged.
You can also try signing in on another device/computer. There have been a couple of posts where people’s device/computer was blocked. You will need to contact Apple for that problem also.

To use iMessage or FaceTime, you need to activate them on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If you see an error message during activation, follow these steps.
When activating iMessage or FaceTime, you might see one of these messages:
- Waiting for activation
- Activation unsuccessful
- An error occurred during activation
- Could not sign in, please check your network connection
Check your device settings
- Make sure that you’re connected to a cellular data or Wi-Fi network. If you’re using an iPhone, you need SMS messaging to activate your phone number with iMessage and FaceTime. Depending on your carrier, you might be charged for this SMS.
- Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and make sure that your time zone is set correctly.
Turn off and restart iMessage and FaceTime
- Go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage.
- Go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off FaceTime.
- Restart your device.
- Turn iMessage and FaceTime back on.
Still not activated after a day?
It might take up to 24 hours to activate iMessage and FaceTime. If the issue continues after 24 hours, follow these steps:
- Make sure that your device has the latest version of iOS.
- If you’re using an iPhone, contact your carrier to make sure that you can receive SMS messages.
- Contact Apple Support.
